BF08 under the radar
is a theatre festival
of new work, rebellion, adventure and discovery.
An initiative of Brisbane Festival, it is a 10 day festival within a festival, wanting to expose the undiscovered talents
of young, adventurous and anarchic theatre artists. BF08 under the radar supports the artists and companies who struggle for
recognition on the cusp of the mainstream and wholeheartedly celebrates the raw, incongruous and obscure.
Theatre makers and artists are invited to apply to be part of BF08 under the radar. Aside from receiving fabulous recognition,
successful applicants / productions will get:
100% of box office takings
a season of 5-6 shows
venue and technical hire for performances
production/technical assistance for performances
marketing and publicity support from Brisbane Festival and Metro Arts
a killer opportunity to expand creative networks with like minded artists and arts workers
a supported environment to create the most outrageous and innovative shows
an opportunity to present alongside some of Australia's and the world's most renowned artists and companies
discounted tickets to other Brisbane Festival productions
NB: Artists are responsible for all of their own travel, freight and accommodation. This includes providing all of your
own props, costumes and unusual/large set elements.
WHEN
BF08 under the radar will burst open on Friday 25 July 2008 and run nearly 50 performances for 10 jam packed
days until the lights go off on Sunday 3 August 2008. There will be performances each night in each of the performance
venues, as well as lunch time performances on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Studio: Audience capacity of 95, 6M wide

HOW successful applicants will be selected
A selection committee of Australia's arts industry practitioners from various art forms will consider each application.
The committee will meet in Brisbane in early 2008 to determine which productions will feature in BF08 under the radar. Applicants
will be notified in February 2008.
Productions with the following attributes will be considered:
Uniqueness of story, content, themes, delivery
Quality of production values
Proof of planning
Artistic achievements, ideas and innovation
Suitability for a festival of new work
