Mission Beach Habitat Network

Action Plan Community Workshop

Saturday December 8, 2007 Mission Beach Resort

Following a very well attended community meeting at The Horizon to hear about three new and significant reports on Mission Beach, a participatory workshop is planned for December 8 to give the community an opportunity to engage in developing the Mission Beach Habitat Network Action Plan.

This workshop will focus on how to take action to put in place a habitat network that is ecologically viable and protects the special values of Mission Beach, identified through recent studies. We will work together on an action vision and steps to achieve that vision.

The strategies we will consider include:

o Traffic management

o Tourism management

o Management by Traditional Owners

o Residential management

o Agricultural management

o Habitat protection and restoration

o Exotic species management (e.g. dogs, pigs, weeds).

How to get involved in the Community WorkshopThe Mission Beach Habitat Network Action Committee is working with terrain Natural Resource Management to put together an invitation list with a balanced cross-section of the community. If you would like to attend, please let us know.
