Exciting new developments
First and second prizes of $7,500 and $2,500 respectively, will be awarded in two categories of Drama and Documentary.
For the first time, an encouragement prize is being offered. The ‘Committee’s Choice’ Award of $2,500
will be awarded by the Steering Committee, to an inexperienced film-maker whose work is compelling and shows promise.
The initiative seeks short films that contain a clear message of hope for people with mental illness, and their families
and carers.
The 2007/08 program is extended to people aged 16 years and over. This allows senior schools and colleges, as well as individuals,
to submit an entry.
Helping to make a great film
This year, additional support is provided to assist entrants in making their film.
We’ve added a comprehensive FAQ to answer some of the main questions you may have. On top of that, there’s some great expert advice
on the creative and practical aspects of filmmaking – click here to check it out.
Importantly, the Arts Law Centre of Australia (Arts Law) will provide a free seminar on the legal aspects of making a short
film. This is ideal for first-timers! Click here for more information.
Arts Law has generously agreed to make its Producers’ Guide to Short-Film Making available free of charge
to Hope Awards entrants – please email us at: hopeawards@lilly.com or ph: 02 9325 4444 if you would like a copy of this useful booklet.
